ICNBI 2025——International Conference Nano Bio Intelligence 2025
ICNBI 2025 Conference Summary

The International Conference Nano Bio Intelligence 2025 (ICNBI 2025) was a three-day international conference organised with the support of School of Biomedical Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Technology Sydney and editor team from Exploration, a Wiley multidisciplinary science and technology journal.

Exploration has a 2025 Journal Impact Factor of 30.4 and ranks among the world’s top five journals in the Multidisciplinary Sciences category in both Clarivate’s Journal Citation Reports (JCR) and the Scopus CiteScore rankings.

The conference focused on emerging research at the intersections of nanotechnology, biological science, biomedical engineering and intelligent technologies, while also providing dedicated platforms for research training, academic publishing dialogue and international community building.

    Special Events

In addition to the main scientific programme, ICNBI 2025 featured four special events:

  • Meet the Editors
  • Early Career Forum
  • HDR Forum
  • Society Launch
  • Meet the Editors

The Meet the Editors session connected conference participants directly with editorial leaders from major international journals:

  • Dr. Justin Gooding,Editor-in-Chief of ACS Sensors
  • Dr. Esther Levy,Editor-in-Chief of Advanced Materials
  • Dr. Bingyang Shi, Executive Editor-in-Chief of Exploration
  • Prof. Huiyu Liu,Editor-in-Chief of iDiscovery, Associate Editor of Exploration, and lead editor for the journal’s chemistry portfolio
  • The session provided an opportunity to discuss journal scope, manuscript positioning, interdisciplinary scientific communication, editorial assessment and the publication expectations of leading journals in sensor science, materials science, chemistry and interdisciplinary science and technology.

    Early Career Forum

The Early Career Forum addressed issues particularly relevant to researchers establishing independent academic careers. It provided a platform for discussing research direction, collaboration, academic visibility, funding strategy and long-term professional development.

    HDR Forum

The HDR Forum was designed for higher-degree research students, including doctoral and research master’s candidates. It enabled emerging researchers to present their work, receive feedback and develop connections across disciplines and institutions.

    Society Launch

The Society Launch reflected the broader ambition of ICNBI to develop beyond a single conference event and contribute to a sustained international community in nano–bio intelligence. This initiative aimed to support continued scientific exchange, interdisciplinary collaboration and engagement among researchers at different career stages.

    Conference Significance

ICNBI 2025 was distinguished not simply by the breadth of disciplines represented, but by its integration of several functions that are often separated within conventional academic meetings:

frontier scientific exchange, early-career development, research training, engagement with academic publishing and international community building.

By combining these elements, the conference provided more than a venue for presenting research results. It created a shared intellectual space in which nanoscience, biology, engineering and intelligent technologies could be discussed within a common framework, while offering differentiated opportunities for senior researchers, early-career investigators and research students.

ICNBI 2025 therefore served both as an international scientific meeting and as a platform for building longer-term connections among researchers, institutions, journals and emerging academic communities.

    Acknowledgement of Country
We acknowledge the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, upon whose ancestral lands the University of Technology Sydney stands.

We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture, and we pay our deepest respects to Elders past and present.

We extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples joining us for ICNBI 2025.

    ICNBI Visual Identity

The new ICNBI visual mark combines the letters “N”, “B” and “I” with scientific symbols representing the central themes of the conference and associated academic society, while the remaining lettering was custom-redesigned rather than reproduced from a proprietary commercial typeface. The “N” incorporates imagery associated with nanoscale science and engineering; the “B” features biological motifs, including DNA and cellular or molecular elements; and the “I” integrates symbols of global connectivity and intelligent technologies. Together, these components visually convey the convergence of nano, bio and intelligence that defines ICNBI. The new ICNBI logo was designed by Dr. Yang Liu, Senior Editor of Exploration, during preparations for ICNBI 2025.
